All About Misty

       series

This body of work was inspired by the ballerina Misty Copeland who is an African American ballerina and first African American female principal dancer for the American Ballet Theatre's 75 year history and speaks to her overwhelming dedication thru encouraging young girls to become all they can be.

Their backs are toward us to not show a stagnant facial expression but what you as the viewer might assume they are thinking during their long journey to become great.

On the flip side the white part of the painting, is a representation showing the white washing of a system that tries it’s best to conform to standards that society encompasses on these young women.
